Wolfgang Van Halen Speaks Hearwarming On Taylor Hawkins' Son Shane Hawkins

Mammoth WVH leader Wolfgang Van Halen took to his official Twitter account to praise Shane Hawkins and sent heartwarming words for the young boy.

After the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins passed away on March 25, 2022, it was announced that his band scheduled tribute shows in honor of him. On September 3, 2022, the first of those shows took place at Wembley Stadium in London. At the time, Bruce Dickinson, Lars Ulrich, Justin Hawkins, and many more musicians performed live songs on stage. This moment was an unforgettable show that showed the harmony of the world of rock and metal music with each other.

One of those people who performed on stage was Taylor Hawkins’ 16-year-old son Shane Hawkins. Joining Dave Grohl and Co. on stage, the young boy sat behind the drum kit to perform his father’s band Foo Fighters‘ classic song, My Hero. Blowing up the stage and the audience, just like his dad, the young and talented boy made people proud who went to see the show.

Recently, Wolfgang Van Halen, who lost his father, Eddie Van Halen, in 2020 and was deeply affected by his death, sent a piece of heartwarming words for Shane Hawkins. He shared a 4-second video that was recorded while Shane and Wolfgang were hugging each other on stage, expressing his admiration for the young boy.

“What an amazing young man Shane Hawkins is,” Wolfgang captioned in the tweet. “We unfortunately have too much in common. I wish I had his strength. Watching him obliterate My Hero just like his father at Wembley Stadium is something I will never forget. Kid’s got a bright future. I’m proud of you, Shane.”

Back in the day, shortly before Shane came up to the stage, Dave Grohl introduced the little drummer to the audience, saying that he had ever seen anyone hit the drums as hard as Shane.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we have one more drummer that’s gonna come up and play with us tonight,” Grohl said (as transcribed by MetalCastle.net). “And, let me tell you, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone hit the drums as hard as this person. Beyond that, he is a member of our family, and he needs to be here tonight with all of us. And I think it makes sense he’s gonna come up and play with us tonight. Ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome Mr. Shane Hawkins on the drums.”
