Red Hot Chili Peppers Releases New Single 'Eddie'

Red Hot Chili Peppers recently released its Eddie Van Halen-inspired new song, Eddie, which can be heard below.

Leaded his rock band Van Halen until he passed away in 2020 – Eddie Van Halen was one of the guitar masterminds of the rock music scene. He officially started playing professional music back in 1964, shortly after he became famous for popularizing the tapping guitar solo technique. Over the years, he gained experience playing guitar and co-founded Van Halen with his brother, Alex. Eddie, who brought his band to worldwide fame with his greatness on the guitar, has also been an inspiration for many musicians.

Red Hot Chili Peppers were one of those artists who were inspired by some of Eddie Van Halen‘s stuff. To pay tribute to the late Eddie Van Halen, they recorded an Eddie Van Halen-inspired song, Eddie, taken from the band’s upcoming thirteenth studio album, Return of the Dream Canteen, which will be released on October 14, 2022. It is now time to listen to the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Eddie.

After the band released the song, they promoted it via their social media channels. Meanwhile, the band’s singer, Anthony Kiedis, penned a piece of writing for Eddie Van Halen. Talking about the greatness of Eddie Van Halen, Kiedis revealed Flea‘s first act after Eddie passed away.

“Sometimes we don’t realize how deeply affected and connected we are to artists until the day they die,” he says. “Eddie Van Halen was a one of a kind. The day after his death Flea came into rehearsal with an emotional bassline.

“Although the song doesn’t speak to Eddie by name, it talks about his early days on the Sunset Strip and the rock n roll tapestry that Van Halen painted on our minds. In the end, our song asks that you not remember Eddie for dying but for living his wildest dream.”

Yesterday(September 22), Red Hot Chili Peppers had shared a 57-second snippet for the song. In the clip, John Frusciante‘s heartwarming guitar notes intertwined with Flea’s bass lines. It also featured Anthony Kiedis‘ emotional tribute to the guitar mastermind.
