Mike Portnoy Thinks New Album Is 'A Whole New Level Of Slipknot'

Formerly Dream Theater and currently Sons Of Apollo drummer Mike Portnoy has shared his honest feelings on the most recent Slipknot album, The End, So Far. He took to his Twitter account to praise the band by touching on their new album.

Slipknot is a heavy metal band that has created music since 1995. The band spent its early years recording demo tapes and developing its sound. The first demo recordings of the crew had not received much attention from record companies. The band then recruited Corey Taylor into the group. Then, the band began to capture their own sound. In 1998, Slipknot recorded their second demo, which received a lot of attention from record companies. Eventually, the band released its self-titled debut album in 1999 through Roadrunner Records.

In the following periods, Slipknot continued its momentum in the upward direction as they went after success. The promotional tour of the first album, The World Domination Tour, ended great for the band, and the album made the band gain fans worldwide. Shortly after the tour, the band entered the studio to record their second album, Iowa. The second album’s success was proof of the group who worked hard to create its name.

Slipknot has released a total of seven studio albums to date. Even though they had been silent for over three years since 2019, Slipknot unleashed its most recent studio album, The End, So Far, on September 30, 2022. The album was emotional for the band, as it was the band’s last stop on its journey with Roadrunner, where the band started making music.

However, it was not a lie that Slipknot attracted colossal attention with its recent album. One of those names that liked the album was Mike Portnoy, a massive fan of heavy music. Recently, he shared some words about Slipknot‘s The End, So Far. Using his Twitter to praise Slipknot, Portnoy stated that the album was a different level of the band.

“I have no idea what Slipknot purists are saying… but for me, this is one of the albums of the year,” Mike Portnoy tweets. “Like Slipknot meets Pink Floyd & Radiohead…and I fuxking LUV IT!! A whole new level of Slipknot… creatively firing on all cylinders… and delivering their Sgt Pepper.”
