When Will Metallica Release New Album '72 Seasons'?

When will Metallica release its upcoming eleventh studio album, 72 Seasons? The band recently updated its official social media channels with breaking news that said there is a new song, a new Metallica album, and a new Metallica tour. At the time, they also revealed when they would release their new album, 72 Seasons.

It’s been six years since Metallica released its latest studio album, Hardwired… To Self-Destruct, that marked their tenth studio album and was released on November 18, 2016. Since then, although Metallica has done various projects – including 2017’s WorldWired tour, 2018’s North American tour, and live album S&M2 – there wasn’t any official news for a studio album until this past November. They had been collecting new material for the album since March 2019, as Robert Trujillo said, but were silent until the last announcement.
