Slash Explains Why He Hasn't Owned Any Guns N' Roses Records

Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has revealed a fact that shocked a piece of his fans. According to him, he hasn’t ever owned any Guns N’ Roses record, including Appetite For Destruction.

Formed in California in 1985, Guns N’ Roses is a rock band that is considered one of the most successful rock bands ever. Consisting of legendary musicians, such as Duff McKagan, Slash, Axl Rose, Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer, Melissa Reese, and Dizzy Reed, the band has sold over 110 million copies worldwide and was named the most dangerous band in the world after the comparisons to the early The Rolling Stones.

Guns N’ Roses‘ most successful album was their debut release, Appetite For Destruction. Consisting of 12 tracks in total, the album has some of the band’s hit songs, such as Welcome to the Jungle, Paradise City, and Sweet Child O’ Mine, which was the band’s only single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. With the album, Guns N’ Roses has sold over 30 million copies all around the world.

Recently, the band’s guitarist Slash appeared on Goldmine Magazine. In the interview, the guitarist revealed a shocking fact for himself. When the interviewer asked if he still has the original Guns N’ Roses cover from Appetite For Destruction on vinyl, Slash said he hasn’t ever owned the record.

“Well, you have to understand — I mean, it’s like this for all the records I do — I don’t collect any of it,” he answers. “If you were to come to my house, you’d be hard pressed to know I was in a band. Or at least any band you had heard of. I mean there’s instruments around, but I don’t have any, like, souvenirs or anything special from the releases over the years.

“I don’t think I’ve ever owned the Appetite for Destruction record. And even if I did, I didn’t live anywhere, so I wouldn’t have any place to put it!

“Granted, I did have a lot of records I’ve kept. But I just never was one to sort of really collect records of the bands that I’m actually in. Does that make sense?”

In the continuation, Slash explained why he hasn’t ever wanted to own any records of the bands he is in, admitting that he has no any Guns N’ Roses records. According to him, the making process of the albums is enough for him.

Slash’s Words On Whether ‘Guns N’ Roses Is Now A Side-Project’

Back this past April, Slash discussed his current works on his supergroup Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators and answered whether Guns N’ Roses is now a side project. Saying that he had been thinking about the same question for a while, he denied the rumors, saying Guns is not his side project.

“No, I’ve been thinking about this,” Slash says. “I think one of the great things about Guns N’ Roses and why there’s such longevity is that I don’t wanna jinx it, but it’s because we don’t take it too seriously.

“Guns N’ Roses was obviously my entire life, and that’s where I come from. I’ll always be part of it, and I don’t mind being recognized as ‘that guy from that band.’ At this point, I’ll probably do it till I’m pushing daisies.”
