Mötley Crüe Plays Its Fourth Show With John 5 During 2023 'The World Tour'

The American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe appeared at Estadio Banorte in Monterrey, Mexico, where they played its fourth concert with the new touring guitarist and longtime fan, John 5.

The first rumor about Mick Mars leaving Mötley Crüe for the then-upcoming The World Tour leaked online on October 26. Mick Mars had been a member of the band since its formation in 1981 until he left touring in late 2022 due to his disease. He had suffered a chronic inflammatory disease called ankylosing spondylitis for decades, which he was diagnosed with when he was 19 years old. The disease has caused him significant pain and mobility issues throughout his life, including live shows with Mötley Crüe.

On October 27, Mötley Crüe issued a statement where they said Mick Mars has retired from touring. In the announcement, Mötley Crüe named John 5 the band’s new touring guitarist and wrote a long statement to share their loyalty to Mick Mars, saying, “While change is never easy, we accept Mick’s decision to retire from the band due to the challenges with his health.”

Mötley Crüe‘s first preparation with John 5 for the then-upcoming ‘The World Tour’ with Def Leppard was held on January 23, 2023. Earlier in February, he showed off which guitars he would use on his trek with Mötley Crüe. Finally, the band played its first show with John 5 at Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on February 10, 2023.

This past Tuesday night(February 21), Mötley Crüe played its fourth show with John 5. The band visited Monterrey, Mexico, and met its fans at Estadio Banorte. The stage opened with the band’s classic Wild Side, followed by other classics, Shout At The Devil, Too Fast For Love, and Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away). Towards the end of the night, Mötley Crüe was there to play chart-breaking songs, Home Sweet Home and Girls, Girls, Girls. The stage closed with Kickstart My Heart, taken from the 1989-released fifth album, Dr. Feelgood.

After Mötley Crüe played its fourth show with John 5, the guitarist took to its social media page to react to their performance in Mexico. It looked like he enjoyed the entire night, as he said, “Monterrey was so great!! Amazing show!” In the post’s comment section, hundreds of fans looked proud of what the guitarist did.
