Kelly Clarkson rocks her cover version of Metallicas “Sad But True” for the “Kellyoke” segment of a recent episode of her talk show “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

“Hey, I’m you life/ I’m the one who takes you there/ Hey, I’m your life, I’m the one who cares,” Clarkson sang during her performance. This is the first time Clarkson has covered the band on her show.

“Sad but True” is a song from Metallica’s 1991 self-titled album. It was released in February 1993 as the fifth and final single of the album.

Clarkson covered Metallica three months after actress Isla Fisher appeared on Clarkson’s talk show and convinced Kelly to cover the iconic metal band for a future segment.

“You should do ‘Sad But True.’ Your voice would be amazing,” Fisher said at the time.

Kelly Clarkson is turning out to be a bona fide rock fan. In previous episodes of the “Kellyoke” segment of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the pop star/tv show host has covered songs like Third Eye Blind’s “Jumper,” Jimmy Eat World’s “The Middle,” and Paramore’s “Ain’t It Fun,” and an impeccable cover of Soundgarden‘s “Black Hole Sun.”
