Rob Halford Explains Why Judas Priest Songs Has No “Curse Words”
Rob Halford explained why his band Judas Priest has no “curse words” in any songs while speaking to Dr. Dot.
As some of those you might know, Rob Halford has been writing and singing for Judas Priest for about 37 years, although he parted ways with the band between 1992-2003. The legendary frontman has released 20 albums with Judas Priest in total.
However, recently, he was asked why he never used curse words in any songs. Rob Halford said that music and art should not be censored. He also explained what happens if you censoring art.
“I love to swear, but I use it in a way; I use it in an expressive way – getting your emotions out,” the musician comments. “But I don’t really think that it has much of a place in our world – in [Judas] Priest. I mean, I see and hear it a lot in certain types of music, and, hey, that’s your thing; it’s your choice.”
“Music and all art should not be censored. Once you start censoring art, it multiplies and it becomes a very dangerous thing to do. Again, it’s all about choice. If you don’t like something, don’t listen to it. If it’s something on the TV that’s making you angry, change the channel. If [there’s] something that makes you angry on social media, go somewhere else. But for me to use explicit language in a Priest song, I don’t think I’ve found the moment yet.”
Concluding his words, Halford revealed when he used those words.
“I have a lot of friends in metal that utilize the power of those words,” he said. “If that’s the word that really emphasizes a part of your message, then, by all means, you should use it.”
Judas Priest Reveals Current Tour Dates
At the beginning of this month, Judas Priest has made a public announcement for the band’s North American leg of its 50th-anniversary tour.
The Sabaton openers North American tour will kick off on September 8 in Pennsylvania, and run out on November 5 in Hamilton, Ontario.

In early April, although it was expected to kick off in late May, Judas Priest announced that the European tour was forced to postpone once again due to the COVID-19 plague.
According to the band, the European tour will kick off on May 27, 2022, in Russia, and conclude on July 31, 2022, in Germany.
Unfortunately due to ongoing COVID-19 vaccine issues in Europe we have been advised that our 2021 dates will not be able to take place as planned – all dates have been rescheduled to 2022 as detailed here .
