Lzzy Hale On Next Halestorm Album: "I Know That A Lot Of People Are Gonna See Themselves In These Songs"

Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale has opened up about what the band’s upcoming fifth studio album, named Back From The Dead, is like and made some comments that excite fans. She claimed that the listeners are gonna see themselves in the songs from the album.

Lzzy Hale has been rocking the rock scene with her band Halestorm since 1997. Playing guitars and leading vocals for the band, Lzzy Hale performed in the band’s every one of studio albums. Debuted in 2009 with the band’s self-titled studio album, Lzzy Hale‘s Halestorm released its latest studio album in 2018, named Vicious. Contributing to the band’s world success, Lzzy Hale is the writer of the band’s only one Grammy Award-winner song, Love Bites (So Do I).

After Halestorm released the fourth Vicious, they have started to work on the band’s next studio album, which is recently named Back From The Dead. Their target was to grow up their huge catalog at the time. While every one of the band members has been doing their best to bring new music for the band’s fans, it seems that they are already doing it. In August 2021, Halestorm had released the title track, Back From The Dead. Earlier February, the second single from the album, The Steeple, was released.

During her recent interview with Lazer 103.3, Lzzy Hale has opened up about Halestorm‘s next album, Back From The Dead. At first, the 38-year-old singer explained how she felt when she wrote the title track Back From The Dead. According to her, Back From The Dead is the exact thing they are going to say on stage.

“When we first wrote ‘Back From The Dead’, we were just, like, ‘Oh my God. This is exactly how we wanna come back out. This is exactly what I wanna say on a stage,'” Lzzy said. “When we were writing it, it was, like, ‘If we ever get on a stage again, this is exactly what we’re gonna say.’

“So we kind of had it as the working title for the album for a long time and we kept trying to beat it with something more clever or whatever.'”

Lzzy Hale Admits ‘People Are Gonna See Themselves In The Album’

Later then, Lzzy Hale went on to reveal how they decided on Back From The Dead as the album name. Saying that the album will be the journey of rediscovery of what the world means to people, Hale added that the album will be the reflection of that journey.

“You know how it goes — you get a list of, like, 60 titles, and then you’re, like, ‘Oh, these are crap,'” Lzzy reveals. “And so we ended up just deciding on ‘Back From The Dead’.

“And this entire album is like that; it is a journey of rediscovery of either yourself or what the world means to you, what humanity means to you. It’s also [about] survival. There’s a lot of mental health issues that I go through on this as well.

“But basically, it’s a true reflection of that journey that we all went through. And not just we as the world but all of us personally in the band.”

Concluding her words, Lzzy Hale expressed her excitement about the album’s release. Claiming that people are going to see themselves in the entire album, she also stated that even people that are not Halestorm fans will gravitate the songs of the album.

“I can’t wait for people to hear it,” Lzzy adds. “I know that a lot of people are gonna see themselves in these songs. And I just can’t wait to see which of our fans, and even people that aren’t our fans yet, gravitate toward some of these songs.”

During her February 13 conversation with 105.5 WDHA radio station, Lzzy Hale had shared new details from the band’s new album Back From The Dead. Speaking about how she got inspired by her lyrics during the writing process of the album, Lzzy had revealed her interactions with the band’s fanbase.

“There is one specific song [on Halestorm’s upcoming album ‘Back From The Dead’], and I won’t necessarily say the title yet because I kind of want her to figure it out for herself,” Lzzy said.

“But there was a very trying situation that I was in. It wasn’t my situation — it was this young girl; she’s in eighth grade and she’s a fan of ours. And she just came out as gay and her parents were having a very hard time with it.

“So she was brave enough to kind of open up to a couple of different people on my socials, including myself. And as hard as it is for me to say it, I have to say it. I guess the parents’ response to her coming out as gay was, ‘Well, death would be better.’

“I know how I felt in eighth grade as a weirdo that loved Alice Cooper when everybody loved the Backstreet Boys; I know what it’s like to already have that. But then to not have the support of your parents for something that you truly are was ridiculous.

“So I ended up taking this conversation into one of our writing sessions and we wrote this song that is not a ballad — it is a banger, because I wanted to write her this anthem that not only says, ‘Please take everything that nobody understands about you and make it into your superpower.’”
