Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page Recalls How Terry Reid Mesmerized Him Surprisingly

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, known for using his social channels actively, has just added a new story to his official OnThisDay series, which was a special social media series that mentions the important moments of his past and takes fans back to those moments.

54 years ago today, The Yardbirds and Jimmy Page were witnessed the unique moment and heard Terry Reid’s performance with Peter Jay and the New Jaywalkers for the first time.

In a recent social media story, Jimmy Page was taking fans back to that epic moment and sharing his feelings about him. Speaking about Terry Reid, Jimmy Page was saying that it was one of the special moments he ever lived.

Jimmy said:

“On this day in 1966, The Yardbirds played at the Ipswich Gaumont Theatre on The Rolling Stones tour. This was the first time I got to hear Terry Reid who was singing with Peter Jay and the New Jaywalkers.

“He had an impressive gutsy delivery for a 16 year old and he made a marked impression on me. When The Yardbirds folded in July 1968, he was the first person that sprung to mind. The music featured is ‘Dean’ from Terry Reid’s 1973 album ‘River’.”
