In a recent interview with Uncut Magazine, Kirk Hammett, the lead guitarist of the heavy metal band Metallica since 1983, discussed the band’s Black Album-era with his bandmate Lars Ulrich and revealed unheard facts about the moment.

The Black Album,’ also known as the self-titled album of the band, has released on August 12, 1991, via Elektra Records. Since its release, the truth was told by Kirk Hammett has not been revealed before.

Speaking about the band’s self-titled album, aka ‘Black Album,’ Kirk Hammett said that it was not easy to make the album because that they wanted a unique effort that has never written before. Later, Kirk admitted that he is the first person that mentions this and said that Metallica wanted to come up with AC/DC‘s epic effort ‘Back In Black.’

“It wasn’t easy to make, as we wanted a certain sound on that album,” Kirk Hammett said. “We wanted everything to be the best it possibly could be, sound-wise, song-wise and performance-wise, and so we went in and – I’ll probably be the first person to mention this – we wanted to come up with a ‘Back In Black’, an LP stacked with singles. That was the concept, songs which sound like singles but aren’t.”

Later, his bandmate Lars Ulrich, the drummer of Metallica, chimed in and confirmed his words.

“We sat down and thought about the Misfits, AC/DC and The Stones,” Lars Ulrich added. “We thought about the art of simplifying and writing shorter songs. It’s harder to write a short song than a long song and harder to be succinct. The new challenge was to write shorter songs. A little more bounce, to make the music more physical than cerebral.”

In 2012, the Grammy Award-winning heavy metal band Metallica performed ‘The Black Album‘ in European Festivals and beloved by fans.
